Getting the MOST out of your Biblical Hebrew Course
ADULT & TEEN BIBLICAL HEBREW COURSES
We recognize that Biblical Hebrew Courses are an investment in your spiritual growth and offer the following information and guidelines to set you and/or your Teen up for getting the MOST out of this Course:
. Learning Objectives & Learning Outcomes:
Review the Learning Objectives and Learning Outcomes for this Course.
Having a road map for where you are going in the Course is the key to getting there! This information can be found on the previous "General Information" page, or on our "Class Information" page on our website.
. Weekly Class:
Class will meet weekly at the designated time for which you registered. Class is designed to run for 45 minutes, but may go as long as 60 minutes if there is enough student interaction and participation.
Classes will be hosted online via Zoom with your Biblical Hebrew Instructor, Donnie Mattos. Zoom Links will be sent to students.
New material will be presented weekly in Class, but the majority of the actual learning (in terms of retaining Course material) will take place at home as the student completes assignments and engages in 30-40 minutes of daily practice and review.
. Daily Time Commitment:
As with any Course, the principle of : "The more you put into the Course, the more you will get out of it," definitely applies to learning Biblical Hebrew.
Homework will be assigned weekly, and is expected to be complete in order for the student to keep up with the Class.
In addition to Homework, a student should understand that a daily commitment of practicing and reviewing for 30-40 minutes per day will be necessary in order to keep up with the Class and to effectively learn Biblical Hebrew.
. Grading:
Workbook assignments and Workbook quizzes are to be graded by the student and/or parent(s).
It is not feasible, both time-wise and financially, for Hebrew for the Nations to grade student work. However, we will be grading quiz handouts together in Class each week as a means of review.
. Discussion Board:
In addition to meeting weekly for Class in an Online, Live-Teacher format via Zoom, we are offering ongoing weekly support via a Group Discussion Board on BAND. We will be sending out a BAND link once you have registered for the Course.
Students may interact with both the Instructor and with one another, ask questions, and/or engage in discussion. The Instructor will check the BAND Group Discussion Board a minimum of twice a week - on Tuesday and Sunday.
. HAVE FUN!
Learning Biblical Hebrew should be a very enjoyable endeavor. At times, learning a new language will be challenging, and even confusing. This is normal. We recommend that when that happens, take a breath and maybe a step back, and review what you already know.
Don't worry if you and/or your Teen feel confused from time to time. If you are putting in the recommended time in daily study and review, eventually all of the pieces will come together - forming a beautiful picture as learning the language of our God brings the Scriptures to life for you in a way you never imagined.
